Digital Billboard Advertising vs Social Media Advertising

Social media advertising and digital billboards are both called digital advertising, but they reach people in very different ways. Most local businesses do not need to choose one or the other.

Where people see them

Social media adverts appear on a phone or computer, in a feed alongside friends’ posts and everything else competing for attention. A digital billboard is seen out in the real world, in the places your customers travel.

Attention

An online advert can be scrolled past in a second, and people can choose to skip it or hide it. A large screen on the road cannot be scrolled past, although people still need a short, clear message to take it in as they pass.

Targeting

Social platforms let you target by interests and demographics. A mobile billboard targets by place and time: the areas your customers live, work and travel through, at the times you choose.

Using both together

A billboard campaign can make your name familiar locally, and social media can follow up with more detail, offers and booking links. We send you photographs of your advert on the screen, which make good social media posts in their own right.
